Handwoven Artistry – New Clothing — Just Arrived!
Kahani means "Story"
This is a well-named dress. We brought it to the shore and matched its colour to the sky and the distant mountains.
The threads were hand-dyed with Indigo before the weaving began. That was the work of artisan dyers in Bengal. Where they work, everything is green, warm and tropical. The weavers work with the music of the looms sounding on a porch or in a weaving shed. Under cover as protection for when the monsoons arrive.
In all our handwoven clothing we think a lot about the threads, and the weaving, and the colours. And then we think – drape, neckline, gentle gathers. Clothing that brings everything together.
