Press Release: Textiles of the Banjara

by - Monday, January 18, 2016

Maiwa is very proud to extend its promotion of artisans to this first Thames and Hudson publication. Written by Charllotte Kwon and Tim McLaughlin, Textiles of the Banjara: Cloth and Culture of a Wandering Tribe is a hardcover book measuring 9 x 12 inches and containing 191 pages.

Over fifteen years of research have gone into this publication. The book documents the history, culture, and embroidery of the Banjara community.  It also looks to the future and relates the revival of traditional work being undertaken by groups such as Surya's Garden (who visited Canada as part of the 2012 Maiwa Textile Symposium).

Textiles of the Banjara will be released in March 2016.

It is available for pre-order here.
