MAIWA'S LAUNDERED LINEN
NO OTHER CLOTH HAS THE HAND OF LAUNDERED LINEN
No other fibre ages the way linen does. As it is laundered, linen takes on a familiar, relaxed feeling. We often refer that feeling as "buttery." Now you can begin your next design project with Maiwa's laundered linen and incorporate that unique linen feeling into your vision.
Maiwa's Laundered linen is also available at:
Maiwa East 1310 Odlum Drive and
Maiwa Supply on Granville Island

SEE WHAT WEAVING CAN BE
— We are introducing this space to feature exceptional artisan work. —
This shawl is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of the Bhujodi weaving community from India's Kachchh Desert. There is only one. Once it is gone there will never be another just like it.
It starts with the yarns; hand-spun in a blend of 80% cotton and 20% wild eri silk. The yarns are next mordanted and dyed by hand, in small batches using traditional natural dyes such as indigo, lac, madder, and cutch. Once dyeing is complete the yarns are sorted and wound onto bobbins for the weft or drummed, stretched and starched for the warp. A traditional pit loom is dressed with the yarns. Patterns and motifs may be formed by supplemental weft (additional weft threads) or through manipulation of the weave structure. Slowly, slowly, the threads become a shawl as they are handwoven by members of the Vankar Family one of India's most renowned artisan families.
