New Bandhani Bandanas — Artisan Cloth

by - Thursday, May 01, 2025

There’s a kind of quiet geometry in bandhani. A map drawn in dots, each one a mark of patience and precision. The cloth is bound, pulled tight, and then naturally dyed—again and again—until what was once plain becomes something luminous. A sky of stars.

We worked with bandhani artisans to shape this small offering of bandanas dyed with cutch and madder root, with indigo and the rinds of pomegranate, with iron and myrobolan.

Each bandana holds more than a pattern. It holds breath. It holds story. Tie it around your neck, wrap it in your hair, tuck it in a pocket.

Maiwa works directly with bandhani artisans working in the Kachchh Desert of Gujarat, Western India.

Stay tuned next week when we launch the beautiful clothing pieces you see here in this email.
