New Maiwa Clothing — Indigo, Cutch, Pomegranate & Iron — The Heart of Artisan Cloth
While handweavers know that cloth is like architecture, dyers see cloth as a palette, a canvas. Bring these two artisan groups together and the creative possibilities are endless.
For our clothing, we don't just choose a coloured swatch from a fabric catalogue. We begin by hand-dyeing the threads themselves with plant dyes. We tweak colours by carefully selecting the thread order on the loom - both warp and weft. A world of possibility opens up. The collaboration is remarkable.
Maiwa clothing is artisan cloth.
