Indigo is traditionally made into cakes as part of the process of extracting it from the indigo plant. These cakes are insoluble, which made them ideal for long distance trade (they would not come to harm on a long ocean voyage).  The dyer would then grind the cakes to a fine powder before use in an indigo vat.

This is the same excellent quality indigo we sell in powdered form. Indigo cakes are available in 100g and 750g jars.
