Hand-cast brass statue - $249.00
Maiwa East has just received some hand-cast brass statuary of the god Shiva. These items are all between 12" and 18" high and are solid. They have exquisite detailing especially in the faces. The first statue appears to be a subtle depiction of the Ardhanarishvara Shiva with Indonesian or Cambodian stylings.

A wonderfully detailed sculpture of the Ardhanarishvara Shiva. The animal behind the deity is half bull, half lion. This sculpture has as much detail on the back as on the front and works well in 3/4 view or in front of a mirror.

Nataraja Shiva - the Lord of the Dance. Also known as the Dancing Shiva. This figure is often found in Indian households and is based on a figure perfected by artists of the Chola period (880-1279 CE). This statue is often synonymous with Hinduism and has come to represent India in the minds of many.

Nataraja is also interpreted as the dance of creation and destruction or the cosmic dance. There is a two-metre high Nataraja sculpture at CERN, the European Center for Research in Particle Physics in Geneva. Trampled under Shiva's foot is Apasmara - the demon of ignorance.
